ACOLYTE TRAINING CLASSES

Tanya will hold two acolyte training session this month during the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45)
Please have your children here for both training sessions if possible. Attending both sessions ensures increased preparedness and decreased nervousness.
Serving as an Acolyte provides a way for our children to serve God in a special and reverent way. Lighting the altar candles symbolizes bringing the light of Christ into our worship service to remind us of God’s presence. At the end of the service, the acolytes take the light of Christ out of the sanctuary and into the world to remind all people of God’s omnipresence.

Promotion Sunday is September 5th during the morning worship service. Third graders will receive new bibles. Children in even grades will be moving up to the next Sunday school class. Children will receive certificates during Sunday school.

We now have a new Sunday School Class for our two and three year olds. It will be taught by Lisa Kelly and held in the classroom side of the nursery. They are called ‘The Little Blessings’ (and they truly are!!!).

Nursery News:
Mrs. Marylyn will be re-working the nursery list very soon. We now need two nursery volunteers every Sunday (one for the babies and one for the toddlers). If you would like to volunteer, please let Mrs. Marylyn. The new volunteer schedule will be mailed to all volunteers. If you are unable to add your name to the list but would still like to help, please check with Mrs. Marylyn and Lisa any Sunday morning you are available.
If you are interested in teaching Sunday School or being a substitute, please contact Nixi Davis or Tanya Mohawk. Teaching Sunday School is a truly rewarding

UPPER ROOM UPDATE:
We now have three bids for the Upper Room Project for the children. This is just a starting point and no decisions have been made. This is an enormous project that will be an enormous blessing for God’s Pods for generations to come. Please continue to pray that God’s hand guide us in every step of this process.
Coming Soon:
God’s Pods will resume their regular Wednesday program on September 1st. We will continue to have our 4 and 5 year old class in the classroom section of the nursery from 6:00-7:30. They will have 30 minutes of Bible study/story time, 30 minutes of music time with Jill Hoda, and 30 minutes of recreation time. Lisa Kelly will remain the primary teacher. If you would like to help Lisa and Jill with this class, please let them know.
Grades 1st through 6th will begin the same date and meet also 6:00-7:30 each Wednesday night. This program will also be on a 30 minute rotation schedule: 30 minutes of Bible Study time with Tanya Mohawk; 30 minutes of music with Janet Thomas; and 30 minutes of recreation time with Leah Roberson. WE WILL NEED HELP FROM PARENTS AND ANYONE ELSE WILLING.
A volunteer schedule will be compiled and distributed at a later date. The more volunteers we have, the smoother the program will run. We hope to have enough volunteers that you should only have to help several times a year.
